February 2015 - A Unique Pro-life Perspective

What is unique about Bea's life is that she would not even be alive today if her parents had followed widely-held views on family planning.

Let us introduce you to Evan and Heidi Donnelly and their sweet daughter Beatrice (nicknamed “Bea.”) Evan and Heidi, both 20 at the time, were married in a beautiful wedding at the mountainside home of her parents. Bea was born shortly after their first anniversary. Some people asked them if Bea was an
“accident” or “surprise.”

What is unique about Bea’s life is that she would not even be alive today if her parents had followed widely-held views on family planning. Nowadays, most couples adhere to the current practice of waiting a number of years to start a family so they can “have time together.” Many people also choose to delay childbearing in order to pursue careers and follow dreams.

Baby1.gifWe ourselves unthinkingly followed the world’s dictates when we got married and ended up waiting several years to have children. Later, in the midst of being called into the “pro-life wars” in the late 1980s, God began to change our perspective on children. Contrary to the world’s view that children are a hindrance, burden, hassle, and liability, we began to understand that they are a gift, reward, and blessing from The Creator. Our eyes were opened to see that Fam2.gifthe war against the woman and her “seed” that began way back in the beginning, has resulted not only in abortion, but also in the mind-set that causes us to severely limit the number of children we bear. Many, many world-changing sons and daughters have been denied existence because we have rejected the blessing of children.

Baby2.gifThe good news is that we are seeing many young couples respond in faith to God’s truth about children. Evan and Heidi have come to believe that God has a plan for our children and that we need to be intentional about asking Him what He would have us do in the area of family planning. Heidi says it this way: “I used to think that you should decide how many kids to have based on what you can handle emotionally, financially, and physically. Now I believe that God will give you everything you need to do well as a parent to however many children He gives you. On our own we wouldn't be qualified to parent even one child, but God is so good to provide us with the wisdom, love, support, community, and finances we need.”

When asked if they have regretted their decision to have a child now, Heidi responded with, “No way! I am not going to pretend this year has been easy, but Bea’s life has truly brought us a richness and joy I could never have imagined!”

Unmasked in Spanish and Thai!

Pastor.gifOn Jim’s recent trip to Ukraine to release his book Unmasked into the Russian-speaking world, he connected with Pastor Henry Madava. Madava, born in Zimbabwe, arrived in the Soviet Union in 1986 to attend school. There God called him to plant a church in Kiev. He went on to found Christian Victory Church network and the international ministry Christ for All Cities. As an evangelist, Madava holds yearly Festivals of Jesus conferences in South and Southeast Asia, Europe, and Africa where many experience miracles of healing, deliverance, and restoration of broken relationships.

Upon hearing about the Unmasked message, Pastor Henry declared that Jim’s message is greatly needed in Thailand, a hot-spot for sex tourism. There it is common for parents to sell their daughters (as young as 8 years old!) to the brothels. It is estimated that there are 400,000 children under the age of 16 in the sex trade in this country.

Pastor Madava invited Jim to speak at one of his pastor’s training conferences in Thailand in 2016. Three-thousand pastors will attend this event, and Pastor Henry wants Jim to teach the message of the Unmasked book at the conference. In preparation for those meetings, Madava wants to first translate Unmasked into the Thai language so it will be ready for pastors to take home with them. Please agree with us in prayer that this vision will be accomplished.

Another exciting development is the almost-completed translation of Unmasked into Spanish! We enlisted the expertise of Benjamin Nunez (pictured here with Jim) to do this translation. He is the founder and director of House of Prayer VENPRONTO (Come Quickly) in Cuernavaca, Mexico.

Why is there a need for an Unmasked Spanish translation?

  • People of Hispanic origin are the nation’s largest ethnic/racial minority.
  • Nearly 38 million people in the United States speak Spanish at home.
  • Spanish ranks as the world's No. 2 language in terms of how many
people speak it as their first language—ahead of English (430 million)
    but behind Chinese (1.2 billion).
  • Many doors have already opened to us in Spanish churches in California, Guatemala, and Mexico.
  • Missionaries from our church to the Spanish-speaking Acuňa Indians in Panama reported their pastor saying that the message of sexual purity is one of the greatest needs in their culture.

You have an exciting opportunity to help complete these translations!

Costs for translation and printing of the first 4000 copies are $10,000 for Spanish and $10,000 for Thai. Go to www.lifeline-ministries.org/donate to make a generous donation toward these Unmasked translations!
Earmark them: Translations.
